A PERFECT ENDING

CRASH-12-aCRASH 12 (Carlon) has ended the season with a 5-4 win over the Dawgs to win the SGFSA League title.  Both teams were 9-2 in league play going into the showdown contest.  Down 3-0 after three innings, CRASH scored two in the fourth, then took the lead in the fifth on a 2-run double by Ashtyn.  The Dawgs tied in the sixth.  In the bottom of the seventh Ashtyn got a one-out hit, stole second, and then got to third on the overthrow.  With two outs and two strikes, Jadeyn got a base hit up the middle for the walk-off victory and the league title!  Defensively the team was outstanding on the night led by Leslie who made a pair of spectacular plays at second.  On the mound, Rachel scattered six hits, while allowing only one walk in going the distance.  Coach Carlon said, “It was a perfect way to end the season.”  The team finished with an overall mark of 29-13 (.690).

ELITE 8 FOR CRASH 14

CRASH 14 has finished in the Elite 8 at the NSA “A” Western World Series in Oregon.  The team opened pool play with two victories, which scored them a number one seed for bracket play.  There the 14’s won their bracket opener handily over Bellevue Blast, 8-2.  Then found themselves in the loser’s bracket after a 3-2 loss to Oregon Thunder (the eventual tournament champion).  CRASH scored a solid rebound win over Snohomish County Red, 8-0, but then got knocked out of the tourney in their next game to finish 4-2 for the tourney and in the Elite 8.  The 14’s now 43-10 on the season.

RECORD-SETTING WEEKEND

2010-CRASH-10-1st-4th-of-JulyOnly one CRASH team scored a tourney championship over the 4th of July Weekend, but that tourney and the number of total CRASH wins set two club records!  CRASH 10 won the 4th of July Shootout in Spokane to claim the club’s 10th tourney victory of the season, which is a new club record.  Plus, the five CRASH teams combined for 18 victories giving the club a season total of 154 wins, besting the old mark of 139 set in 2006. 
 
CRASH-12-3rdIn other results from the Shootout, CRASH 12 (Carlon) went 4-1 to take 3rd place.  Coach Carlon was very pleased with his team’s play as they took the Northwest Wildfire the distance in the semifinal round.  In fact, the teams were tied in the 5th inning before Wildfire went ahead for good.
 
It was a weekend of 3rd place finishes for CRASH as the 14’s went 2-2 to finish 3rd.  The 18’s went 3-2 also good for a 3rd place finish.
 
Meantime, CRASH 12 (Douglas) played in the Glacier Emeralds Invite in Kalispell.  The team lost a tough battle with Crush ’97, 5-2, in the semifinals.  Then rallied to beat the Dawgs, 6-1, for a 3rd place finish.
 
Overall for the weekend, CRASH went 18-6 for an overall season mark of 155-46 (.771).

CRASH RALLIES THROUGH LOSERS BRACKET

CRASH 12 (Douglas) participated at the NSA State tournament in the Tri-Cities this weekend.  After an opening loss to Selah that immediately put them into the losers bracket, they team rallied strongly with eight straight wins to get all the way to the championship game.  Unfortunately, the team ran out of gas and fell to the TC Diamonds.   Here are the scores:

RAIN SHUTS DOWN THE SGFSA INVITE

Rain turned out to be the big winner at the SGFSA Father’s Day Invite in Spokane.  Wet fields on Sunday resulted in cancellation of most of the trophy day games in the tourney.  CRASH 14 and CRASH 12 (Douglas) both finished undefeated in the tourney at 4-0.   CRASH 10 went 3-1 and CRASH 12 (Carlon) ended at 2-3.  The four teams were a combined 13-4.
 
Meantime, CRASH 18 was playing in the Valley Invite college showcase in Beaverton, Oregon.  This is a huge tournament with lots of college coaches attending and great competition.  Here are the scores:

CRASH PLAYS IN 3 CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES - CRUSH INVITE

All 5 CRASH teams participated in the Crush Invite in Coeur d’Alene over the weekend.  Three CRASH teams made it all the way to the finals, with two scoring championships.  CRASH 10 won their third consecutive tourney of the year and CRASH 12 (Douglas) picked up their first championship of the season.  The 14’s were playing in their fifth straight title game of the season, but lost a close one. 
 
The 12’s beat the Wildfire 8-2 in the finale.  Alex Douglas went the distance and for the tournament hit a blistering 10 for 17 (.588).  Jensen Kirkwood added 7 hits and 10 RBI on the weekend!  The team now 26-8 on the season.

C10-CDA-Invite-1stThe 10’s rolled to their third straight championship, beating the Yakima Lady Bears in the championship game by a score of 8-0.  For the tourney, the team went 6-0 and outscored the opposition 59-6!  CRASH 10 has moved their season mark to 27-2.
 
Meantime, the 14’s started out slow and lost their pool play opener, but rallied to win 5 straight to earn a berth in the finals.  However, Crush ’96 outlasted CRASH in the championship, 6-5.  The game marked the fifth consecutive trip to the finals for CRASH 14 this season.  Their overall mark now 26-5.

CRASH 18 played in their first tourney of the season.  The team went a mere 2-2, but Coach Jake was very pleased with his team’s performance.  The two losses were a by a combined 3 runs.  Jake says the pitching and defense were especially solid.  The 18’s now 4-2 overall.

C12-CDA-Invite-1stCRASH 12 (Carlon) had a good Saturday, scoring a pair of victories.  Unfortunately, it was “one and done” on Sunday as the team played poorly against the Moses Lake Rattlers, which CRASH had beaten the day before.  The team now 14-8 on the season.

For the tourney, the club combined for 20 wins against 7 losses.  The overall club mark now at 97-25 (.795).

LEAGUE SEASON UNDERWAY

After months of faithful practice, the 18’s have finally taken to the field and opened the SGFSA league season with a doubleheader sweep.  CRASH 18 took on the Stealth at Mt. Spokane and scored a 10-4 win in the opener.  Kerica Cusick got the offense going with a bases-loaded double in the first.  Hunter Allen went the distance for the win.  CRASH then took the second game 5-2.  The 18’s open tourney play this weekend in Coeur d’Alene.  In fact, all 5 CRASH teams will be in the tourney.
 
In other league action, CRASH 12 (Carlon) is now 2-1 after edging the South Hill Heat on Monday.
 
CRASH 14 took a pair from the Dawgs to open league play.  The 14’s won the opener 5-4 in 8 innings.  Then exploded for a 16-5 win in the nightcap.  
 
CRASH 12 (Douglas) had their league doubleheader canceled due to an unplayable field at Rogers.

CRASH OPENS SUMMER WITH A CHAMPIONSHIP

CRASH 14 has opened up the summer season with a great victory at the Summer Invite in Moses Lake. The championship run featured a pair of dramatic CRASH victories. In their opener, the 14’s grabbed a clutch win over the Washington Sparks, 2-1. Nicky Tiffany had a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh for the victory. Kylie Bremner went the distance for the win. In their next two games, CRASH rolled to identical 14-0 wins over their next two opponents. Then on trophy day, CRASH rallied for two runs in the last inning to beat the Sparks again, 5-4, in the semifinals. Lindsey Benner drilled a 2-strike, 2-out  pitch up the middle to tie the game and Lauren Gerty followed with a double to win it!  Then CRASH scored an easy win over the Athletics for the championship. CRASH 14 now 19-3 on the season with two tourney titles and two second-place finishes in their four tourney appearances.C14-wins-Moses-Lake-6-6-10

On trophy day, the 12’s rolled past Rattlers ’98 and TC Inferno to get to the championship game.  However, in the finale CRASH gave up 6 runs in the first on errors.  The gals managed to rally and send the game into extras, but lost in the international tiebreaker by a final of 8-7.  Coach Douglas and his team now 21-7.

Meantime, CRASH 10 was hosting the Bonners Ferry Blaze in a doubleheader at Rogers on Saturday. CRASH got the sweep to move their season record to 21-2.

It was a near perfect weekend for CRASH to start summer with the club going a combined 11-1 and now 71-18 (.798) on the season! The club has now combined for 4 tournament titles.
